Marie Moore Lyles is a playwright and author of short stories and novels. She began writing plays in her teens and continued to create drama and comedy for church theaters and children's community theaters. She is a published theater critic and book reviewer. Lyles was blessed to be a member of an African American family subject to many opportunities and challenges. She was reared in Iowa, and has lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York City, and Alabama surrounded by a multitude of inspirational stories. Lyles retired as an occupational therapist after forty-two as clinician, administrator, educator, and national coordinator of a civil rights project for persons with disabilities. She has authored textbook chapters, monographs, and referred journal articles. Lyles married for the first time at age fifty-seven a widower with five adult children. After his death, she is mother of five, grandmother of eleven, and great-grandmother of eighteen.
